Big Game - 1980 - Stern Electronics

With a new Alltek MPU, some common parts from a parted out Freefall, some elbow grease, and almost a year from the day I got it, it plays.

Big Game is a widebody, but is not quite as wide as some others of the 70s-80s.  In my opinion this is the best of the classic Stern pinballs.

There were a few firsts in pinball history included with this game.  It's Stern's first widebody.  Although the playfield is 24 inches wide rather than around 29 like others of the time.  It's also the first pinball to use a 7 digit score display.  Stern was rather proud of it, and demonstrated the 7 digits by an occasional count to 7, then a row of them would blink in one of the first score animations.

Why is this one of my favorites? It is more complicated than it looks, like most other classic Stern games.  Careful coordination of the drop targets with the X, Y, Z lights on the bingo cards are necssesary in order to light them all.  Simply put, its a fast game, which is uncommon for older widebody games with their slower gameplay.  It has one of the most detailed and impressive artwork layouts I have ever seen.  The plastics actually seem to blend in with the playfield almost as if you are walking around inside.
