Production run: 1694
(there were 592 electromechanical versions made previous to this run)
This is Stern Electronics first pinball game after aquiring Chicago Coin. This one with solid state electronics was made immedietly after the EM run.
The theme of this game is sports. However I don't think it's clear what the game is trying to represent. To me it just looks like an ordinary day...somewhere.
Shop and repairs almost done.
This game seemed to be in good shape when I got it, needing circuit board repair and a shop. After doing the board work it booted up.
It plays! There are just a few issues now:
Match/credit, and 3/4 player scores don't work. There is an occasional ball in play kickout issue. The right saucer kickout is way too strong. Coin lockout coil buzzes a lot and needs to be dealt with. Game is running Alltek MPU and I need to track down some logic problems with original MPU to use that instead.
Stern Electronics went on to create some incredible games between 1977 and 1984. Many of those are looked upon even now as some of the best pinball has to offer, with the signature Stern feel and style.
See my Meteor page for the Stern pinball timeline and how I set these games to manual freeplay.
